The #1 WORST Food that CAUSES Faster Aging (BEWARE Fellow Hubbers!)

Do you eat these foods that HARM your blood sugar and age your joints and skin faster?  Some are even deceptively marketed to you as "healthy" by giant food corporations.  Avoid or minimize these and look 5-10 years YOUNGER than your real age.

Due to biochemical reactions in your body that occur with every type of food you eat on a daily basis, some foods age you FASTER than your real age, while other foods help to FIGHT aging.
Eat the wrong foods regularly, and you can look and feel 10 or more years OLDER than your real age (not fun!) ... but eat the right foods, and over time, you can start to look 5-10 years YOUNGER than your real age.
Three of the processes that go on inside your body that have a MAJOR impact on your rate of aging are called "glycation", "inflammation", and "oxidation".
When we talk about aging, we're not just talking about wrinkles on your skin or how thick your hair is... we're also talking about factors that you can't see, such as how well your organs function, and whether your joints are degrading.
Yes, I'm sure you'll agree this is much more important than just how you look superficially (although we'll show you how to improve BOTH below!)
With the title of this article, you might have guessed that obvious answers like sugar or trans fat would be what we talk about in this article.  Yes, we all already know those are bad, but I want to discuss another food that ages your body faster than normal... and it's one that you might not expect!
So let's dig right in and I'll show you how your rate of aging can be directly related to the foods you might eat every day, and how to protect yourself...

The #1 WORST food that ages you faster:
Wheat based foods (yes, even "whole wheat")
Before I tell you why wheat can actually speed up the aging process in your body, let's clarify some simple biochemistry in your body...

This deals with "glycation" in your body, and substances called Advanced Glycation End Products (AGEs).  These nasty little compounds called AGEs speed up the aging process in your body including damage over time to your organs, your joints, and of course, wrinkled skin.
So with that said, what is one of the biggest factors that increase production of AGEs inside your body?  This may surprise you, but high blood sugar levels over time dramatically increase age-accelerating AGEs in your body.  This is why type 2 diabetics many times appear that they have not aged well and look older than their real age.  But this age-increasing effect is not just limited to diabetics.
So, let's get back to how "whole wheat" relates to this...

Here is a little-known fact that's often covered up by the massive marketing campaigns by giant food companies that want you to believe that "whole wheat" is healthy for you... but the fact is that wheat contains a very unusual type of carbohydrate (not found in other foods) called Amylopectin-A, which has been found in some tests to spike your blood sugar HIGHER than even pure table sugar.
In fact, amylopectin-A (from wheat) raises your blood sugar MORE than almost any other carbohydrate source on earth based on blood sugar response testing that's documented in studies.
This means that wheat-based foods such as breads, bagels, cereals, muffins, and other baked goods often cause MUCH higher blood sugar levels than most other carbohydrate sources.  If you don't believe me, here's something you should know... I ran personal blood sugar tests on myself using a blood glucometer about 45 minutes after eating 2 slices of wheat bread vs eating a bowl of oatmeal, with equivalent grams of carbs.
Article Sources: Mike Geary - Certified Nutrition Specialist
& Catherine Ebeling - RN, BSN
The blood sugar test results:
2 slices of whole wheat toast:
45 minutes after consumption:  Blood sugar spiked from 86 fasting level to 155.

1 Bowl of Oatmeal (equivalent grams of carbs to 2 slices wheat toast)
45 minutes after consumption:   Blood sugar raised from 86 fasting level to 112

As you know now, the higher your average blood sugar levels are over time, the more AGEs are formed inside your body, which makes you age FASTER.  Clearly, the whole wheat spiked blood sugar MUCH higher than the oatmeal, and if you don't know, 155 is a massive blood sugar reading that will certainly contribute to faster aging if you eat wheat frequently.
You've probably also heard about the potential health-damaging effects of gluten (another problematic compound found in wheat that can cause inflammation in your digestive system) in the news recently, but this blood sugar aspect we just covered is not talked about that often, and is yet another reason to reduce or eliminate wheat-based foods in your diet.  Your body will thank you by aging slower and looking YOUNGER!
And losing bodyfat is typically another fun side effect of eliminating or reducing wheat in your diet!
Yet another problem with wheat-based foods and aging...
As it turns out, baked wheat products contain carcinogenic chemicals calledacrylamides that form in the browned portion of breads, cereals, muffins, etc.  These carcinogenic acrylamides have been linked in studies to possible increased risk of cancer and accelerated aging.  Note that acrylamides are also found in high levels in other browned carbohydrate sources such as french fries or any other browned starchy foods.

Don't worry though... There's a trick that you can use to protect yourself from these carcinogenic acrylamides, and it has to do with eating the RIGHT foods that COUNTERACT damage from these nasty chemicals.  I'll show you how to find the EXACT foods that protect your body on the next page!

Other foods to watch out for that can increase aging in your body include corn-based foods that also disrupt blood sugar highly (corn cereals, corn chips, corn syrup), soybean oil and other "vegetable" oils that contain excessively refined and processed fats that cause inflammation in your body, and also excess sugars from candies, cakes, and sweetened drinks.

Why You Should Start Dry Body Brushing

dry body brush, skin, healthy
Ask yourself a question: what’s the largest organ your body has?
You’re probably thinking along the lines of lungs or liver, but the actual answer is… your skin! Your skin is vital to eliminating toxins and receives a third of all the blood circulating in your body, but is the last to receive any nutrients, which means it needs a bit of a helping hand.
One of the best things you can do for your skin is treat it to a daily dose of dry skin brushing.
What are the benefits?
They are huge. Dry brushing increases the circulation of blood to the skin, meaning that you can reduce the appearance of cellulite, which is toxic waste material accumulating in your fat cells. Dry brushing also helps to shed dead skin cells, making your skin look brighter and smoother, and also discourages those annoying ingrown hairs. It also improves lymphatic drainage which helps to release toxins and encourages your body to discharge metabolic waste and run more effectively, as well as helping your skin to absorb nutrients by unclogging pores.
How do I do it?
One of the best things about dry skin brushing is that you can do it by yourself at home without lots of expensive equipment – all you need is a natural bristle brush. A long handled one is best so you can reach all areas of your body. Brush your skin before you shower or bathe in the morning, working in gentle circular, upward motions, then longer, smoother strokes. Begin at the ankles with upwards movements towards the heart – the lymphatic fluid runs through the blood towards the heart, so make sure you brush in the same direction (your back is the only exception to this rule – brush from the neck down to the lower back. When you’ve done your ankles, move up to your lower legs, thighs, stomach, back and arms, taking care around the sensitive skin around the chest and breasts and avoiding moles or sores.

5 Essential Skin Care Tips For Autumn

women, washing, face, cleansing
It’s not quite autumn yet but the temperature has dropped and we can feel that change is on its way.
Changing seasons and temperatures can play havoc with your skin, so it’s important to examine your skin care routine to prepare for the colder months ahead. As summer moves to winter your focus should be on detoxifying, hydrating, repairing and protecting.
Check out our top five tips below.
1. Hydrate
After being exposed to the sun all summer, your skin needs to be fully hydrated to allow it to make the transition to the colder months. You should moisturise at least daily, if not more, and most importantly drink plenty. When your skin is dry you are dehydrated, so treat it as a warning sign and drink more water.
2. Exfoliate
To make sure your skin is looking its best, it’s important to exfoliate on a regular basis. Exfoliation removes dry and dead skin cells and leaves your skin looking smooth and radiant, plus it makes your skin more receptive to moisturisers.
3. Body brushing
Regular body brushing encourages your skin to function well, eliminates toxins and enables the skin to hold moisture for longer. It also improves circulation to the skin, which can reduce the appearance of cellulite, and rejuvenates the nervous system by stimulating nerve endings.
4. Repair
Exposure to sun throughout the summer causes damage to your skin such as pigmentation and premature ageing, so use the autumn as an opportunity to give your skin some relief and a bit of pampering. Vitamin C is great for rejuvenating damaged skin, so find a moisturiser with plenty included, but also up the amount of vitamin C you include in your diet.
5. Protect
Harsh weather, and the rapid temperature changes that your body experiences when transitioning from outdoors to indoors during the winter months, can make your skin particularly sensitive, so protect it from the elements using a rich skin care cream. Applied every day, moisturisers such as cocoa butter or shea butter can help keep your skin glowing and healthy whatever the weather

10 Portable Beauty Essentials To Stock Up On Now

I used to travel for a living. Not kidding—for two very recent years of my life, I travelled to a different city in North America every day, living out of hotel rooms and getting on a plane at least three times a week, sometimes more than five times a week.
There are good sides and bad sides to all that travel. The good: racking up insane frequent flier mileage, having a new hotel room to mess up every night, seeing new places, and casually dropping in on an old friend who now lives in Tucson. The bad: never, ever getting to cook a real meal, cancelled flights, navigating a rental car through a blizzard in Fishkill, New York, and living out of a suitcase. Permanently.
But you know what living out of a suitcase made me super insanely good at? Packing. I’m a militant monster when it comes to traveling light, and keeping a makeup flight kit always packed and ready can save you a ton of time, not to mention stress. You know—a little bag, stocked with essentials, that you can throw into a bigger bag whenever—whether for an overnight at your boyfriend’s or girlfriend’s place, a weekend getaway, or a full-on vacay. It’s ultimately up to you what you put in your flight bag, but these ten must-haves are seriously handy. Grab everything you need and let’s blow this joint!
1: The bag itself: It’s always a good idea to just go with what’s universally approved at the airport: a plastic, 1-quart zip-close plastic baggie. All those gift-with-purchase quilted satin bags from the makeup counter are nice to look at, but guess what else they are? Opaque. We’re going for efficiency, ease, and speed, and you need something you can see through that’s also spill-and-leak-proof. Airport security does not need to open and examine a regulation-size plastic bag full of toiletries—they can immediately tell: it’s just toiletries. (Editor’s note: Sonia Kashuk makes small bags in tons of cute patterns that open up to two TSA-friendly zippered clear compartments, which keep toiletries organized and easy to see through security.)
2: Teeny-tiny bar of face soap. Or a small refillable squeeze bottle of your face cleanser.
3: Small facial moisturizer. I like Indie Lee Squalane Facial Cream for its easy-to-pack 1-ounce jar and skin-brightening benefits.
4: Travel-size shampoo and conditioner. Beautylish writer Jorie Larsen suggests swiping the free ones during a hotel stay to use for future travels. And who hasn’t done that?!
5: Concealer/foundation product. Two-in-one! Traveling is made for multiple-function products, like Kevyn Aucoin The Sensual Skin Enhancer.
6: Basic translucent powder. Check out ILIA’s Translucent Powder in Fade Into You. It comes with an attached brush in a refillable base.
7: Multi-tasking eye, lip, and cheek stick. The majority of the makeup you’ll need in one single product? Yes! I like ILIA Multi-Stick in All of Me.
8: Palette with room for shadow, liner, and a super-bright lipstick. The four SquareInglot Cosmetics Freedom System Palette is so ideal for a to-go kit, and you can customize exactly what you want in it.
9: Tiiiiiny travel-sized mascara. Mascara tubes can take up a surprising amount of space in your quart bag—go small! Look for a mini version of your fave (Benefit Cosmetics makes its beloved They’re Real Mascara in a 0.14 oz. tube, for instance).
10: Travel-size atomizer of your favorite perfume, because you fancy, huh? I’m obsessed with my Travalo, a mini perfume atomizer. You attach it to any full-sized perfume and pump to fill it up.

Skillet Of Roast Mushrooms And Tomato-Stuffed Peppers With Garlic And Fresh Thyme

Recipe for Health:

This time of year delivers a harvest of abundance and flavor as summer crops give their last burst of goodness. What better time than to try a hearty plant-based meal or side to see how filling and delicious a dish of vegetables can be? It’s good for you, and it’s good for the planet.
The Culinary Institute of America’s Adam Busby, CMC, director of special culinary projects, demonstrated this recipe in June at Menus of Change, a leadership summit coproduced by the CIA and Harvard University School of Public Health. The recipe emphasizes ingredients and principles of sustainability as well as providing the deliciousness we all seek in our food. Try it as a Meatless Monday meal served with farro, brown rice or pasta; or serve it as a side with your favorite fish or seafood.
3 ripe Roma tomatoes
3 large yellow bell peppers
2 T garlic, minced
1 t fresh thyme leaves, chopped
12 farmed anchovy fillets
2 lb “hen of the woods” mushrooms
4 T extra-virgin olive oil
2 T balsamic vinegar
salt and ground black pepper to taste
Recipe Key: T = Tablespoon; t = teaspoon; lb = pound
Preheat oven to 350° Fahrenheit. Wash peppers and tomatoes well. Carefully cut each bell pepper in half lengthwise, splitting stem in two if possible (don’t remove stem). Remove and discard seeds and ribs.
Mix garlic and thyme together.
Cut and core each tomato in half lengthwise.
Set peppers on oiled and seasoned cast-iron pan, cut side up. Drizzle ¼ of olive oil and sprinkle half of garlic-thyme mixture into pepper cavities. Season with salt and pepper.
Gently force 1/2 tomato into each pepper (tops should be flush with peppers). Sprinkle with remaining garlic-thyme mixture; drizzle a bit more olive oil on top; and again season with salt and pepper.
Place two anchovy fillets in “X” fashion on each tomato-stuffed pepper.
Toss mushroom bunches with remaining olive oil, and season with salt and pepper. Place mushrooms around peppers in cast-iron pan.
Roast in 350°F oven for about 20 minutes, or until tomato-stuffed peppers are soft.
Remove from oven and drizzle with touch of balsamic vinegar.
Serve with mushrooms on the side. Makes six servings.
